Hello!

Please give me your honest opinion about our new girl name that we finally agreed on.

Her name would be Mabry...different, but not crazy or trendy???

Our kids names are Hanna and Grant..does this go with it?

Thanks to All!!

Hmmmm ... Mabry.

On first impression, I don't know how to pronounce it. Is it "Mae-bry" or "Mah-bry" or "Maa-bry"?

I think it's a little offbeat to go wtih Hannah and Grant. IMHO, a name you will constantly have to explain to folks ...

ehh...I am just not feeling Mabry. I think that Maisie would work much better. I also like Darby.

good luck,

Well, I love Mabry. I think its got tons of character, and goes great with your other names. I've seen it before, so maybe thats why I'm not having problems with it like the previous two posters. If you and your husband both love it, go for it!

It looks to me like you're combining some names there-- maybe Maren and Aubrey? Not crazy about Mabry. I think Audrey would be a nice choice for you.

I am not sure about it. Reminds me of Darby.

Sorry if you are all a little confused....Mabry is pronounced May-Bree

I have thought of Audrey and Maren, but dh doesn't like it. His favorite is Kendall.

Thanks to all!

I ddon't know...Hanna and Grant seem like calm classics and Mabry seems like it could be part of the surname trend (I don't know that it is, but that's what it sounds like at first blush) so they do seem a bit out of sync with each other.

Although it may be mispronounced often, I think it is pretty and unusual. More importantly, you and your husband agree on it!!!! IMO that is huge, because finding a name you & DH both like can be next to impossible! My DH shot down every one of my choices, and I shot down every one of his. I thought we were never going to agree. One day I threw out what I thought was a long shot, a name I wasn't even sure I liked- Eleanor. Much to my surprise DH liked it so that was what we went with. Our families were NOT thrilled. Some people like it, many people don't- I have learned it really doesn't matter what other people think! 4 years later, I can't imagine my daughter with any other name!

I am pretty sure I've heard that before as a surname, not that I can think of who it was, not someone I "KNOW" all the time

it reminds me a little of Aubrey, which I really like, but I do not like the Mabel similarity

I'm middle of the road on it

it's not in the same style as Hanna at all, but that does not necessarily matter

good luck
