Calvin, Diana? Middle names?

So...I've considered Peter, Paul, Clark, Mark, Antonia, June, Jane, and numerous other names, and I think that the names I like the best are Calvin (nn Cal) and Diana (nn Annie). Victory! My only concern is that Diana might sound kind off dated...but I think that it's beautiful regardless.

Now, as for middle names:

Peter
Mark
Arthur
Paul
Thomas
Roger
Edmund
George
Alan

Antonia- well, Diana ends with "a" as well, so maybe not
Eloise
Alice
Margaret
Virginia- see Antonia
Susan
Penelope
Catherine
Eleanor
Jane
Dorothy
Mary
June
Matilda- see Antonia
Josephine

What do you think?

My favorite boy names from this list are Calvin Peter and Calvin Thomas.

For the girls, my favorites are Diana Eloise, Diana Margaret, Diana Catherine, Diana Eleanor, and Diana June. They're all so pretty that I couldn't narrow it down any farther.

Calvin is my favorite of your boy list as well. ;) I quite like Diana, and I knew a beautiful little girl with the name, so it doesn't seem dated to me. However, they were Italian, and pronounced the beginning as "dee" rather than "die," which I do think comes across as less dated to begin with. Just a touch softer, I suppose? Both dee-ANN-ah and dee-AH-nah are valid, and nn Annie works with any of them. Just some options if that's a concern. ;)

As to the mns, I think my favorite is actually Calvin George. Love it! I'll comment on the rest rather than trying to address them all together ...

  • Peter - not crazy about the 2/2 flow, and totally reminds me of "Simon Peter" as a combo ;)
Mark - despite preferring a one or 3+ syllable mn with Calvin, Mark seems curt (maybe the repeated K sounds?)
Arthur - again, think it's just the 2/2 flow, because

I like Penelope for a middle name for a girl and Thomas for a boy.

Good luck!!

I love Calvin and Diana! We're considering Calvin, nn Cal, for this baby, and I'd use Diana in a second (well, if we didn't already have a Julianna/Annie ;-) ).

As for middle names, my favorites on your list are Calvin Thomas and Diana Margaret or Diana Jane. I also like Diana Catherine a lot and think that Annie-Cate could be a very sweet nickname, too, especially at home.

You have lots of great mn options there, so almost any of them would work. Do any have any particular family significance over the others? That might make the difference for me once you narrow your list down.

Good luck making a final decision!

Just had to laugh, Stephanie ... the little Diana I mentioned in my previous reply had one sister -- Julianna. They went by Didi (Dee Dee) and Julie. Not recommending it. LOL Just thought it a funny coincidence. ;)

I think Diana is a beautiful name, but it immediately conjures images of Princess Diana for me. I like Diane a bit better for that reason.

AJ, enjoying life with C.
