Is Christian too Feminine?

As most of you know, I have loved the name Christian Scott for quite a long time now. DH agreed to it as well so I figured we were all set as far as a boy's name goes. However, I asked some friends their opinions recently and although they liked the name, they thought it was kind of feminine...or at the very least not masculine. Now I'm second guessing our decision to use it. I am still in love with it, but I don't want to tramautize my son with a "feminine" name. Of course, he could always go by Chris, but I have every intention of calling him Christian most of the time. What are your thoughts on this name? Am I overreacting or do we need to begin the long and arduous search for another "perfect" boy's name?

I don't think it's at all feminine. It's a good classic boy name, in my opinion.

Don't forget Christian Bale!

I don't know any girls with the name Christian. Always Christine, Christina, Christiana...but never Christian.

So I say go with it, if it's the name you like.

I absolutewly LOVE the name Christian!! I don't see it as feminine at all. I guess it doesn't have any "harsh" letters, like K or V or Z or ???? and it doesn't have any "hard" sounds. Maybe that's why some think it's not very masc???? I love it, though. I have a Christopher who I wished we'd have named Christian.

DH says it's because of the soft KRISH-chen sound, which is how I tend to pronounce it. Although, I see that Behind the Name also gives the alternative KRIS-chen pronunciation which doesn't sound quite as soft on the first syllable. I don't consider Christian a real hard-sounding, masculine name like Brock or something but I never considered it feminine until people started planting doubts in my head! LOL

Don't let the doubts enter your head! I pronounce it the KRIS-chen way but, either way, it's a great name.
