Audrey, Genieve, Agnes or Adriana

I'm due on the 22nd of June and my DH and I have yet to decide a name. Some of the names we have discussed are Audrey (family name), Genieve, Agnes (family name), Adriana, Astrid (my heritage) or Jayne (after my father Jay). The middle name will probably be Maria or Mari after DH's mother. My favorite is Audrey. MY DH likes Ashley but I think it is overused. Opinions on our list or ways get my DH to decision time would be helpful.

My daughter is Audrey Anna. She likes to go by both names. So of course, I really like this.

I love the name Genevieve. (Is this what you meant, otherwise I don't like Genieve, but I do like Geneva).
Agnes is just okay.
Adriana is beautiful.
Astrid is a great name also also.
I like Jane, I don't like it with the spelling Jayne - except as a middle name
I dislike Ashley, way over done and so 90's.
I like the name Mari for a middle name.

My favorites from your choices is Genevieve.

Other suggestion: Adelaide.

Good luck.

Audrey (family name) - love the name, especially since it's a family name for you. It's not as interesting/unusual as some of the others here, so I think you might be happier branching out, but if this is the one you can both agree on (especially since it's similar in sound to dh's favorite, Ashley), then it certainly works.

Genieve - assuming this isn't a typo (and since it's spelled thusly twice I'm guessing not), it's not my favorite from your list. Per the pp's comments, it will certainly be assumed a typo for Genevieve or even a kre8iv form of Geneva a majority of the time, and I also first took it as Genevie (which people also tend to view this way, though it is a valid shortening). If none of that bothers you and you simply love the name, by all means use it. But be aware of it going in. FWIW, I do prefer the sound of any of the above to je-NEEV (assuming an "American" pronunciation). Zhawn-YEV is actually interesting, but I'm not sure which you're going for here.

Agnes (family name) - I adore Agnes. Sweet and old-fashioned. Perfectly fitting with the trends without being overused. Adorable nn options Aggie and Nessa (if you'll use one). Just an all-around great name. ;) Add in the family connection and I'm sold! LOL

Adriana - not my favorite of the bunch, but I have always thought this had a lovely sound.

Astrid (my heritage) - ooh. A wonderful way to honor your heritage. Perhaps using a non-traditional nn like Ash would lure dh away from Ashley as a given name?

Jayne (after my father Jay) - I much prefer the Jane spelling, but I can see the point. You might also consider this as a family mn option.

Audrey is a gorgeous, strong, classy name and I love hearing it. I agree that it is a million times better than Ashley which I find a bit outdated. I also quite like Agnes. It is not one that you hear often and it is really interesting. The nn Aggie is pretty adorable on a little girl.

Audrey Maria GMV though since you love it, but Agnes Mari is also really tempting!

Audrey or Agnes for sure.

Ashley is not only overused, it is getting dated. IMO it's a 80-90s name.

It seems you could warm your dh to Audrey most quickly, since it's just a sidestep in sound from Ashley. It's your favorite anyway and has the added bonus of family roots.

It doesn't flow beautifully into Marie (a bit choppy). I would suggest Audrey Maria. I also like Audrey Jay or Jane Marie. Agnes is catchy, but I'm guessing dh won't go for it. It's so far away, in style, from Ashley.

I just have to say, I LOVE the name Astrid! It would flow nicely with Maria....Astrid Maria. It was actually at the top of my whimsical "baby girl name" list for years. Of course, by the time I got preggo, I'd decided to honor DH's late mother and two dear friends by naming the baby after them (assuming she's not hiding something and is secretly born a boy!). It's slightly similar to Ashley, which might please DH.

Audrey Jayne would be beautiful as well, if you chose not to use Maria as a mn.

Agnes is nms. It makes me think of old ladies with blue hair, although I can't honestly say why.

Good luck finding the perfect name for your perfect little girl!

Audrey is a very pretty name, so if you can get dh onboard with it, I say go for Audrey Maria (Mari sounds odd with Audrey).

Ashley definitely feels very dated to me. Admittedly, it's still VERY popular even now, but it's starting to fall noticeably after having been in the top 10 since '83. Not only does Audrey have a similar sound, but it's a way to make a too popular style (Ashley, and the -lee names in general) sound fresh again.

I really like Astrid (pp's thought about the nickname Ash is great).

Jayne is my middle name, and I like it, but I don't think I'd go for it as a first name.
