I love the name Sophie and if I have a girl (US on June 4th) I would like to name her Sophie Renae. Does it flow good? Do you think I should go with Sophia Renae and Sophie for short? My hubby is freakin out cuz you can't shorten Sophie but is Sophie short for Sophia or does it really matter if you can shorten it?
His name is Mark and you can't shorten that?!?!?!?!?
Thanks for any suggestions!!

Sophie could either be a name on its own or a nn. If you plan on calling her Sophie then I would just give her that name.

Sophia Renae does sound a tad nicer than Sophie Renae, IMO though, but Sophie Renae is still nice. I think it flows well.

You can definitely use either Sophia and Sophie as the full name and still call your little girl Sophie.

Sophia Renae sounds a bit better than Sophie Renae, but both are very pretty.

I like Sophia Renee (I prefer that spelling to Renae, but both are nice).

First of all, I LOVE the name Sophie. It is on my list for #2 and was for my 1st as well. It is a stand alone name not a nickname for Sophia - it is the French version of the name. I personally like it that way. If you like Sophia use Sophia, if you like Sophie use Sophie but I don't like Sophie as a nickname because to me it isn't that. It's also a cute enough name for a little girl that it doesn't really "need" a nickname IMO.

I also like the combination of Sophie with Renée, but I would spell it with the 2 ees at the end either with the accent or without. I find the ae spelling of the "ay" sound tacky.

I think Sophie Renee flows very nicely!

I know a Sophie who gets called Soph ("sofe") or sometimes Sisi. I like Sophie Renee, but prefer Renee spelt this way. I don't think Sophie needs to be a nn for Sophia- I prefer it on its own.

well first, I think alot of times people with short names that are hard to shorten tend to like names that can be shortened alot of the time (I am personally one of those people!) I also think Sophia Renae flows better than Sophie Renae, but either would work :)

Sophie Renee gets my vote - I think that it flows very well, and I love the name Sophie. My second choice would be Sophia Renee. Third and fourth choices, respectively, would be Sophie Renae and Sophia Renae.
