Hello all,
I need some suggestions of some good Italian names - that aren't too out there. Other children are: Charlotte Grace, Vincent Jameson, Amelia Rose -
I am not Italian but my husband is and we have a 4 syllable Italian last name starting with an A and ending with an O. I am willing to consider an Italian name this time for DH"s sake. I am looking particularly for a good boys name but also a girl's. My DH really likes the name Angelo but it seems too close to Angela and I worry about teasing. He also really likes Donato (his grandfather who just passed away a year ago).. but I worry about the pizza. Would our kid sound too ethnic (being only 1/8th Italian - other ethnicities are Irish, German, Lithuanian) if we named him/ her something Italian with our last name? Would love any suggestions!
Thanks!
Erin

Even if there isn't "a lot" of Italian blood, it IS a part of your family's heritage, so you have every right to choose an ethnic-sounding name! Also, Italian names are really beautiful. :)
If your ln is A____o, though, I wouldn't use Angelo for a boy, since his name would end up being A---o A---o. That's just a bit too repetitive for my tastes.

Hi there.
I think an Italian name would be fine for a 1/8 Italian baby. I really just *love* Italian names too. Also, your other kids names aren't anything that would clash w/an Italian named sibling.
I'm w/you that Angelo just isn't that great. Donato is neat though; it's different, but probably not too hard for non-Italians to pronounce.
Here are some more suggestions:
Boys-
Anthony
Antonio
Dominic-this isn't Italian really, but I think it'd work really well w/an Italian last name.
Giovanni
Luca-yes yes yes!
Luigi
Massimo-I love this. You could call him Max for short too.
Girls-
Antonia
Arabella
Francesca
Giana
Isabella
Lucia-Aw.
Massima-So pretty.
Nicoletta-Yes. I love Italian girl names a lot, LOL.
Rosalia
Rosabella
Stephania (sp.?)
Hope this helps!
I love the name Benito for a boy, I think it would fit in great with you other children.
Good luck!!

I'm actually a Donata, and I briefly lived in Columbus, OH, where they had Donato's pizza. I thought it was cool (I was about 10) and people could actually pronounce my name there. Now I live in Colorado and everyone thinks my name is Spanish ("De nada ... isn't that Spanish for nothing or thank you or something ..." Ughh) Aside from that, I like my name well enough.
I wanted to add my sister's name to the list that I don't think I saw anywhere: Domenica. I always thought it was so pretty (although I never admitted that to her! LOL).
My grandmother is Sicilian, and some of the names from her side of the family include:
