This is all I could find

http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/html/pr2007/pr085-07.shtml

It's only for NYC. Isaiah ranked #7 for African American boys in 2006 in NYC. I had no idea it was popular with any specific ethnicity. I didn't associate it in any way - it sounds religious to me I guess and I don't picture any specific ethnicity. It's a nice name and I don't really see the problem. There are some names that don't cross ethnicities very well (Jamal, Lakshmi) but I don't think Isaiah is in that category.

Ten years ago, I probably would have guessed that someone named Isaiah was African American but now biblical names are very popular with caucasians so I wouldn't be so quick to make a guess.

It is out of the bible so I think that anyone can use it I am caucasian and if I every have kids and one of them is a boy I plan on using it as a middle name but that is mainly because my nephew and his wife used it as their oldest son's first name. I was always leaning toward it being the middle name but since they used it I will only use it as

I absolutely adore the name Isaiah, and don't associate with any particular ehtnic group myself. If we'd had a boy, and my husband would have let me, I'd have named him either Isaiah or Eli. I just think of them as biblical names. Hope this helps!
