My c-section is in a month and we don't have a boy or girls name picked (gender is a surprise).

I love it! William Fox is very handsome and dignified, and Wilkes will set him about from all the other little Williams and Wills. I think it's wonderful. (And I love the subtle Gone with the Wind connection.)

Wow... I really like this! William Fox nn Wilkes is FABULOUS and I love that you are using family names. This is a great choice!

I just think John Wilkes Booth, the man who assassinated Lincoln. I can't get past that association.

AJ, enjoying life with C.

I think William is too bland for a sibling to Rhett (I love that) and a girl named Lyle (have never known that crossed over to being unisex)

I don't like Fox even for a middle name - I'd use the William in the middle with a nice first name

here are some 1-syllables

Brent William (eh, maybe too close to Rhett)

Bryce/Brice William (very good with Rhett)

Brock William (I personally am not crazy for that, but you might be)

Clay William (nice)

Dwight William (I'VE always like this, but I know it's disliked on this board for some reason)

Gage William (real nice with Rhett)

Grant William

Rhett, Lyle & Wilkes sounds nice to me. I like just plain old Wilkes Fox. I think it goes good together, so why not just that? :o)

I really like it! I would even like Wilkes as an actual given name (for a boy) even though it's not my typically naming style, if Wilkes is a family name.

Great choice!

It's one of the best "original" or uncommon names I've seen on the board lately.

I still like William Fox nn Wilkes the best. I agree with one of the past commentors who said it (can't remember who now as I read it this morning) that it is definitely one of the best names I have seen on this board in awhile! If you are worried that Wilkes is too obscure, he always has William to fall back on. I love it. Plus, I love the incoporation of William as a family name.

I wouldn't be into Wilkes as the given name, but I love it as a nickname for William Fox! I agree with the PP that said it will certainly set him apart from all the other Wills, Liams, Bills, etc. I like that it's sort of a combination (of the sounds, at least) of both the first and middle names. I also love that it's still a nod to Gone With the Wind, without being too obvious. Good thing your daughter isn't named Scarlett! LOL.

Anyway, I think you have a fantastic name! And if he later decides Wilkes isn't something he cares for, he has the more classic William or Will to go back to. I think this shows a little extra foresight on your part, giving him more options for when he gets older.

Congratulations on finding "the" name!

(Oh, and a lot of people may just associate it with John Wilkes Booth, but I hope you don't let that put you off. If people avoided names just because of negative associations some other people may make, that would really narrow most people's options! The people who know your child personally are the only ones whose opinions matter, and after a (most likely short) while, they'll come to have a more positive association of the name because of him.)
