This name was brought to my attention by my husbands aunt, who had just seen it in a western movie she'd watched.

I think Ty Cobb, the baseball player. It could grow on me.

Colyer, I'd picture that one with a "C" -- I have heard it as a last

AJ, enjoying life with C.

I've always heard it as 'coll-yer' - the first syllable is the same as in collar.

Is Kolyer like that or like coal-yer?

Kolyer was pronounced to me as "coal-yer"....I'm not even sure I have the correct spelling though.

Don't like Cobb, or Kobb- definitely brings "corn on the ____" to mind.

Kolyer- not too crazy about that one either- brings to mind Kohler, company

Cobb says "corn" and "salad" to me...not sure I'd go there.

As far as Kolyer...the spelling looks a bit contrived. I'm guessing that it's a cre8tyv version of Collier (kahl-yer) which I liked well enough to put on my list. It's a Middle English word referring to someone who works with coal. If you want to check the pronunciation, you can go to Merriam Webster online and they have a spoken pronunciation.

I agree that Kolyer is a little to kre8tyv for my taste, but I think that she wants to find a spelling for "coal-yer" and not "kahl-yer". In that case you could spell it Coallier??? I don't know maybe I'm just being crazy because its so late, but it sounds good right now. lol. :)
