It could definitely work, and I love it! I do prefer the Adalyn spelling (one n)- the second n just seems unnecessary to me and might add to the confusion (if there is any).

Yeah, I was under the impression AYE-duh, like a long A, not Ida. I do agree that Ida wouldn't work, but I think you meant a long "a", and LOVE this!

I think Ada would make a perfectly acceptable nn for Adelyn. It's close enough, and so many nns only have one or two letters/sounds with their roots...Rick for Richard, Nate for Nathan, Libby for Elizabeth...I think this one's a charmer.
