What a sweet nickname! I'd never heard it before now, but I like it for Katherine... ofcourse Katherine is beautiful on it's own as well. Happy choosing!
No, we're pretty much up to our ears in Katies in these parts...but I like Kay as a nn for Katherine...it makes me think of "Father of the Bride." That was the daughter's name in the play and original film (updated to "Annie" for the more recent set.) It's got a grace about it that I like. (And, no, I'm not just saying that because it's my own nn.)
I have never heard anyone (little girl, or adult) who goes by nn Kay/Kaye for Katherine- but I do like it a lot! I have always heard Kathy (for the adults) and Kate or Katie for the girls and teens.
almost all the "little" Katherine's I know go by Kate or Katie - my daughter has one friend with a 7-year-old named Kayla and she calls her Kay sometimes - but it's not like nickname she'd use in writing or anything
the only people I now who actually use that nickname are like 40 or older - I can't recommend it on a child, sorry
Just wanted to throw in there, as a Katherine myself, I love it.
I have a great aunt Joyce Katherine. We always called her "Aunt
