Family names--who'd a guessed?!

For a little history on me...1st, I've never been a big fan of using family names, they're aren't any on either side that we like and it wasn't ever important to the family either, so we wanted to give the kids their own identities without feeling they have to "live up" to something.

That is pretty cool! I admit that I do love the use of family names for the reason that they have emotional significance behind them (named for someone I love), rather than just being in the family tree, but both are pretty cool!

We chose our son's name, Carson, without ever knowing it was DH's great-grandpa's middle name, so I can understand the surprise.

Both DH & I come from pretty messed up families, so, though I do love my family I would rather not give my children names of people that I don't respect.
