Need a name impression...

Hello! I was a regular on this board ages and ages ago, and I'm back to seek opinions on a name. I'm expecting baby number four, having three boys already. My son's names are Evan, Jameson and Griffin. If we have another boy, I am considering the name Kellen. I like the fact that it's not too common, but not too out of the ordinary. I also like that it ends in the letter "N" like the other boys' names.

My concern is, that it would be confused for the name "Kelly", which I absolutely hate for a boy. I can't stand overused names, like Ryan or Jacob

Hmm, Kellen is interesting. I like it, but I think it might be a little too girly. I think that what causes me to think this is that I know a Keelin, and also Kellen rhymes with Helen and Ellen. Honestly, I want to like Kellen but I don't think that I could get into it, especially since you said you didn't like Kelly for a boy.

Here is another suggestion - do you like Nolan? I think it matches well with what you said about not being too common but also not too "out there", and it ends with an N. WDYT?

Thanks for your input!! I do like the name Nolan, but my next door neighbor is named that and I wouldn't want to think we were copying them or something, LOL! Thanks again!

My first impression is: Kellen = Kelly + Helen. Also, it's not (to me) a very memorable sort of name because (again, just to my ear) it gets lost in the crowd with all the other surname-ish/unisex-ish names, and even if it's not made-up, to me it has that made-up feel. I'd go for something more like Declan or Nolan with your others boys' names especially.

Thanks! I've always loved the name Declan, but I can't get DH into it!

I grew-up with a Kellen, his name suited him. He was very athletic and a tad aloof.

Also:
Dermot
Pierce
Colin
Orin
Quentin
Duncan
Holden
Sean
Shane

Good luck,

What about Keegan? I think that's how you spell it - I only heard it once, then read it somewhere else but it fits what you're looking for.

I like Kellen and I don't think it will get mixed up with Kelly (at least not if people aren't making fun of him). I knew a Kellen and he didn't seem to have any problems with his name or get mixed up with a girl.
