The only Marley's I know are animals...my friend's male cat and my neighbor's female dog. But since one's a boy and one's a girl...I guess the gender of Marley in any species really doesn't matter. Good Luck! :)

I feel as though a decade ago or more, Marley never would have been thought of as a girl's name...but now, thanks to the soap operas, people look at it as a girl name. Oddly enough, so do I. It's not really my style, but I think it's cute and spunky for a girl.

If you wanted to use it for a boy, maybe you'd want to try Marlon or Marlton instead.

Best of luck!

Well, I'm glad most people are voting girl, I want to use Marley Jane as a girl's name. My son's name is Erik so I think that makes it even more clear Marley is a girl.

BTW, I love the name because it is the name of the greatest reggae musician of all time, Bob Marley!!!!

Yes, Marley kind of falls into the dog category for me.

I voted completely ambiguous - but it's also completely ugly - for either one. sorry, I've heard of two little girls recently named that and I think it's just awful sounding. horrendous. again, sorry. it's really just not pretty.
