Whatever you do, don't do the "botanical" thing (Ivy, Poppy, Viola). JMO but all these combinations are simply horrible. Pretend you're calling your kids Lily and Stella outloud and listen to how they sound---like a couple of old ladies!! Sorry.

Sorry you feel that way.. Stella in particular is a very creative name to me. The only one of my listed names that I'm not really thrilled with paired with Lily is Ivy, which I'd love on it's own, but *is* a bit much with the "obvious" botanicals: Ivy, Poppy, Viola.

Daisy, Chloe, Lily & Daphne are ALL botanical names, Stella is the only one that's not. :)

Daisy's obviously a flower as is Lily. Chloe "means" blooming & Daphne "means" laurel.

Stella "means" star. And all but Lily & Chloe are century names.. the last time they were popular was at the turn of the 19th century, which is something I love. :)

But thanks for the input. Since I'm not running any names past family.. this is it for negative feedback for me! :)

I like Viola! I have always liked this name...most of them I know are from the Deep South...Lily and Viola sound like lovely southern women. Or artsy city gals...whichever!

I have always heard it pronounced Veye-OH- la for a name, not VEE-ola like the instrument.

I voted for Lily and Daphne. I've always liked Daphne!! If you like the botanical theme, I don't see an issue with it. I do like the more "subtle" botanical themes of Lily and Daphne or Lily and Chloe (am I remembering this one right - not sure). I thought I'd throw in Bryony - an English wildflower and popular name from the 19th c. also. It's said like Bryan with an "ee" at the end.

Also, if people give you grief about the two flower names, you could always point out that Lily started out as a nn for Elizabeth and isn't a flower name at all!

I think the "flower" theme is a beautiful one for girls. My mother's name is Camellia (which blooms here in Jan) so I am partial to that name. I voted for Lily and Ivy, simply because of all the names I think these "sound" best together. If you use Lily, I like Iris better. Second choice: Lily and Chloe

Good luck!!

There is a store nearby named Lily and Daisy. Its a little girl clothing boutique. Lily is the owners dog, there is no Daisy they just liked the sound of it.

Well, I voted for Lily and Stella-- I love both names... esp Stella (as I just had a baby girl in February and named her this. Ten years ago names like Isabella and Grace sounded old and now there back... so go with what you like and it will fit your little girls! I kept saying that if I had twins I wanted their names to be Stella and Greta. I guess I just like the old / as well as less used names.

Good Luck!
