First off, you need a seperate poll for girls and boys names. But for your purposes, I would go with none of the above. Unless your ex is an abusive, horrible person who won't really have a relationship with your child, I would use his last name last. If you want your maiden name in there, than hyphenate Maxwell-Todd. Personally I think a hyphenate name is a lot to put on a child. I guess I'm old-fashioned, but I prefer kids to have their Dad's last name.

So my first choice would be Luke Maxwell Todd, then Luke Todd Maxwell. For a girl I would go Abby Ruth Todd or Abby Todd Maxwell, or Abby Ruth Todd Maxwell- with Todd being a second mn rather than a hyphenate ln.

Just my 2cents. Good luck, whatever you choose!

It's very difficult when you children don't have the mom's last name. Where ever you go you are called by your child's last name. My children have there dad's last name and I am remarried with my husbands last name. But at my kids school, doctors office, snowboarding class, well everywhere I'm known as Mrs. Wallace (my ex's name), it drives me nuts and no matter how many times you correct people they still call you by your childs last name. Just something for you to think about.

I'm just ditto-ing the concept of having the same last name as the parent who is custodial or with the child the most -- be it the father or the mother.
