Not even pg just yet but ttc, but we have always loved the name Aidan... for either boy or girl.

What do you think of the spelling Aidyn for a girl? What middle names would work??

I have 3 problems with it...

1) its so popular right now

2) its traditionally a boys name

3) its spelled wrong

But hey, if you've always dreamed of having a kid named Aidyn, go for it.

Actually..

NUMBER ONE... It is a unisexual name.. meaning it can be used for either, thank you.

Also, havent you ever noticed that people often change the spelling of a name to make it different than the ordinary or spell it different for a girl than they would a boy?

To be quite honest your response was kind of rude. A simple, its too common would have been sufficient.

You asked for my opinion and I gave it. I'm sorry if I offended you, I was just being honest.

There are certain ways to express opinions and starting it off with

MY 3 problems with it are and then basically coming across as if I cannot spell and dont know its used alot as a boys name.. is insulting.

Thank you, I had someone reply with " Its a boys name, its too common and you spelled it wrong" I liked the y variation for a girl.. makes it more feminine and I think its a unique name for girls.

Thank you! I appreciate it! :)

I don't like Aidan/Aidyn/Aiden/etc for a girl. It isn't a unisex name. The feminine version of the root name 'Aodh'

ITA with you! There are so many lovely girls' names out there - I don't understand why some parents feel the need to cross over into the boys' names. I also think the 'y' spelling looks contrived and not particularly feminine.

However, if the OP is set on this name I think the spelling Aden looks more feminine (even though I don't normally like creative spellings).

You asked for people's opinions on the name and you got a perfectly civil response. I think you are overreacting. Besides, Aidan is not a unisex name.

By definition it may not be, however more and more baby name books and people are using it as either boy or girl name... there for making in unisexual.. able to be used for both..

I just thought the way she came across was harsh.. I want opinions, but I think that a soft approach is best.. you never know when you might offend someone.
