I love the name Sophie Gray--I think it sounds like a great name for a singer. I know the name is classic, but yet I picture someone even a little bohemian--kind of like Edie Brickell or Suzanne Vega.

Best of luck.

I don't really understand why if you like the name Sophie, which is a nn for Sophia, you wouldn't want to go with Sophia but call her Sophie.

Well, here's my two cents. We are naming our daughter Sophia, but will be calling her Sophie. My name (it's not really Dana) ends in an "ee" sound and it sounds nick-namey to me. I always wished I had a more grown up name for professional situations. Hence, little Sophia will be called Sophie, but can always opt for the more (pardon the pun) sophisticated version when she is older.

I know you said you don’t like nicknames, but I agree the others who said name her Sophia and call her Sophie-that way she has a choice when she gets older.

Love Sophie Gray! I don't like Sophia at all though. There are a lot of little girls named Sophia at my school and no Sophies. Sophia is an old Italian lady name to me like on Golden Girls. Sophie is posh and British to me like Sophie of Wessex. Just my 2 cents.

Sophia is becoming way too popular. Sophie is a good transition to set your daughter's name apart.
