None of these flows really great w/ Maclain, but Thomas is the best. Maclain Logan sounds esp. bad. I think I said this before, I just don't see Maclain as a fn, esp. if it has no family connection. I just don't understand the trend of picking a random ln as a fn. If it does have family significance, by all means use it. But, judging by the spelling, I'm assuming you just like the sound.

I understand you don't like the name. That is why we come here to get honest oppinions from others. Sometimes family and friends aren't real honest and don't want to hurt our feelings. To tell you the truth I read the name on a semi trailer. Every time I see it like it! It is spelled McLane and I think that looks a little too feminine? I have 3 boys that all start with an M. I did not plan this. The first is Mathew after my husbands mid name. Spelling and everything. The second was my husbands college roommate who I never met but I just loved the name and had never met a Mason before.(As an elementary teacher you get turned off to lots of names because it will always remind you of a particular child.) When we had the AFP test done for baby #3 it came back that he may be downsyndrome. I felt very strongly at that point that he must also have an M name so that it does not appear that we were seperating him in any way from the first two. So now here I am with the need for baby #4 name. I have a Mathew Garrett, Mason Tyler, Micah Alexander. We have a 3 syllable last name. Mark or Marcus is just not a name I like. Max sounds like a Yuppie spoiled brat to me. Those are the only other two that my husband and I both have said maybe. So, you see why the last name chosen for a first. Any ideas? Jules

Ok, I see your reason for the name. Hoestly, I don't think it matches your other sons' names, but if you can't find another M name you like, I guess Maclain is it. I guess this or Maclane would be the best spelling as a fn.

From you last post, it seems maybe you're still taking suggestions as well, though. I'm sure you've thought of these, but here I go anyway:

Malachai, Manuel, Madoc, Maddox (Not a personal fave, but kind of matches your other kids nicely), Morgan, Mackenzie (I actually don't mind this name on a boy), Martin, Malcolm, Manuel, Martin, Marlon, Maurice, Monroe (a fave family name for me), Murdoch, Murphy, Myron, Murray, Marvel (another of my crazy family names! LOL!)

I also stand by my Maclain Thomas vote, it really sounds the best.

I said it before ... I think Maclain is kind of cool! Masculine & unique but not weird. We all have our opinions, tho, thank goodness or we'd all have the same name. I don't think you'll go wrong w/ Maclain.

See my response to your other post for my ideas....

BTW - my favorites next to your current sons names are Morgan or Mitchell!
