Can I ask you a Hebrew name question? My DH is not Jewish. Neither of my DDs had naming ceremonies. My DS was circumcized in the hospital. My ob/gyn did it and is a moyel (how ever it's spelled), but there was no formal naming.

My middle DD is Abigail and my DS is Benjamin so it's easy to figure out Hebrew names for them. My oldest DD is Victoria and I've never thought of a Hebrew name for her. But when I saw the name Keililah, meaning victorious I though it would be perfect for her. Is that appropriate? In my family we usually do the initial thing.

Keililah is my daughter's Hebrew name! (Her English name is Kaitlin) Yes, that would be fine for your daughter Victoria-kind of cool, actually, since her name is Victoria and the Hebrew name means Victorious!

I picked my daughter's Hebrew name based on the first letter being the same, but not everyone does that. You can pick whatever you want, basically. She will need

Based on a decision (i.e. compromise)I made many years ago, my kids haven't gone to Hebrew school. Vicky is 11 years old. A lot of it has to do with my DH's complete disdain for having to pay to join a temple, pay a building fund and pay for Hebrew school. He's used to going to church and putting as much as you can afford into an envelope, even if it's $1.00 a week. Believe me, it makes me cry to think about it.

Vicky's name is Victoria Jean and my MIL's name was Jean. Abby is Abigail Lillian and she's named for my grandmothers Annette and Lena as well as DH's great grandmother Lilly. Ben is Benjamin Jeremiah. DH's family has had a Jeremiah every-other generation for over 300 years. It was hard for me to name him Jeremiah because FIL is still alive, but I was able to "rationalize" it that he was named for his great-great grandfather as well has his great-great-great-great, etc. So we've been able to incorporate both of our naming traditions.
