Which do you like best: Samuel or Solomon?

  • Samuel ... "Hand of God" (Hebrew)
  • Solomon ... "peace" (Hebrew)

I like both names almost equally. Samuel just a smidge more because it's more common.

NN Sol is really nice.

lol, I like Solomon more b/c I think it's a smidge less common, lol...also, for some reason it sounds a little less "Biblical" and "Hebrew" to me, not that there is anything wrong with names like that...I just find Solomon to be a little more...sexy...My initial thought with Samuel is always a stern, Hasidic Jewish man with a yarmulke and peis (sorry, not sure of the spelling)...but then I also think of Samuel as a good name for boy children of the present times. Best of luck! Both are good

Thank you for your replies. I am still thinking about a boys' name. This will possibly be our 3rd boy (don't know gender yet), so it becomes more difficult to come up with a unique, yet simple name. Does that make sense? LOL!

It may be too late to post, but I'll try! My oldest son is a Solomon, and he loves his name - once someone hears his name, they do not forget him. And he's only known one other Solomon in his school! (Lots of Sams, though) The name also fits him - he is kind, thoughtful, gentle - and wise, of course. Solomon got my vote!

Best of luck to you!
