I have never heard of anyone thinking of using Gavin for a girl, even as a joke. Of course, there was a while back when someone was considering "Oliver" for a girl...

I don't think Gavin is feminine at all. I also think the "Guh" sound that the letter "g" makes is harsh for a girls name...if you really like it, though, maybe alter it a little to make it a little softer and more feminine:

Gavine (pronounce it Ga-VEEN)? or Gavina (Gah-vee-na)?

Well, best of luck to you!

I've never heard this as a girl's name. Did it used to be used as a girl's name? You wrote "really can still be either no problem."

Just curious! Thanks!

Growing up I DID know a girl named Gavin. I guess she'd be around 30 years old now, but I always looked up to her and thought she was very cool! In fact, she's actually the only person I've ever met named Gavin...
