I don't mean to be rude, and I do not say this often - but I think Hattie is just awful. Really awful! It does not appeal to me for any age, but I can picture it being somewhat 'cute' on a child...yet I can NOT picture an adult Hattie (or what I picture is horrid) so I guess I might say that for me, at least, Hattie doesn't "grow up well"! Am I seriously the only one who hates the name Hattie? LOL. Sorry, it's just not often that I reallllly dislike a name this much.

Is it a nickname for anything else? If so, that something else might be better than Hattie as a FN (?!)

Cameron Renee got my vote, and I also like Cameron Noelle. Renee as FN is not bad but I think of it as rather dated, because most of the Renees I know are in their 30's and 40's. I think Cameron Droll makes the best full name, here. I can just picture a spunky little redhead named Cameron.

Isn't Hattie a nn for Harriet?

Yes, Hattie is a nickname for Harriet. :) I think Hattie Noelle is adorable but would you consider Harriet Noelle , nn'd Hattie?

I think Harriet, nn Hattie has a LOT more style and pizazz than boring ol' Cameron (which is still a boys' name to me).

It's definitely a choice that takes a bit of guts to use.. but I don't think it'd be a bad choice at all.. Harriet/Hattie is adorable!

Hattie is my first choice - it's so different and would be great on a red head ! Cameron is my second choice - I like it, but there are so many boys named Cameron, too. I don't particularly like Renee - surprised that it is doing so well in the poll. HATTIE!!

Hattie is cute, but I can see it as a nn only. I can't imagine it being an actual given name. I voted for Renee Noelle, b/c I'm not a fan of Cameron.

Best of luck to you!

Hattie is adorable! Spunky, whimsical, charming, and a gutsy name choice. As you can see, you'll take some flack if you use it, and I hope you do!

I think Hattie is fine as a name all by itself. I don't think it has to be a NN for anything if you don't want it to be. I have known several people who chose to name their daughters Maggie, rather than giving them a more formal name and using Maggie as a NN. I think Hattie kind of falls into that category, and I think a lot of people are bypassing more formal names for names that might traditionally be thought of as only NNs. For the most part, I think it's just a matter of which you prefer. (BTW, Hattie Noelle got my vote!) Good luck!
