Lane or Scott? ln Silva

  • Lane Alexander Silva
  • Scott Hoxworth Silva (Hoxworth is a family name, not negotiable)

I voted for Lane Alexander Silva since I don't like the combo Scott Silva, but would like to humbly suggest Lane Hoxworth Silva.. since it seems to be a family middle name, would mean much more to a child growing up and sounds pretty awesome on it's own. It would also seperate him easily from the other Lanes out there now (as a previous poster said, Lane as a name is starting to get hot).

edited for spelling.. *sigh* wish there was a spell check here!

Thanks for your suggestion.

I didn't realize Lane is getting hot. Everyone we run the name by seems to think it a bit strange. "Lane?" Maybe it just isn't popular in our area - Seattle.

There's a good chance it's not. I know it's middling hot here on the east coast. Have you tried calling it out in a place crowded with kids? McDonald's play areas or malls are great places to try out how many kids turn around when you call a name. Chuckie Cheese is another place that's good for the "playground test" as I call it.

SSA's website ( http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ ) says that nationally, Lane is at #277 for boys and it's been steadily rising for a few. Something in the mid 200's is not super popular, but is popular enough that the chance of it taking off is pretty good. I like the idea of a family middle name just to make the name more special and connecting it to family history is a cool idea too!

I like Lane better for a girl than a boy. Plus, I think Scott Silva sounds better than Lane Silva. AND I like him getting a MN that has familial significance.

Good Luck. From the poll results I can see that not a lot of other people agree with me.
