Just curious -- why do you want a "son" name? Does it have some significance to you?

I voted for Charlotte Madison, b/c I think it has the best flow --- 2 syllable/3 syllable name.

Other ideas:

Charlotte Allison
Charlotte Jamison

DH and I both have "son" names and our DS's middle name is a "son" name. I know a lot of people on the board don't like "son" names for girls, but I kind of like our tradition and I figure a middle name isn't too bad.

Sorry, but don't like the masculine middle names, especially with a pretty little name like Charlotte.

Instead of the masculine names, what about:

Charlotte Allison

i'd like nn as * Carley /or/ Carleigh * better than Charley (Charr-lee).. or * Charla (Sharr-lah) * would be lovely name! ..and your mn are kinda masculline sounding, tho Madison, Addison, Mason is used both b/g .. i wouldnt wanna be more boyish with Charley as nn.

Charlotte - Charla or Carley
(..not Charley..if really like that, Charli (Charr-lee /or/ Sharr-lee), a definite feminized spelling)

Charleigh, (Charr-lee /or/ Sharr-lee), could be a nice feminine option for you also.

i like Charla (Sharr-lah)

........

officially i wouldnt shorten a lovely name as Charlotte,
amongst family and close friends, sure, but in school, be Charlotte.

another nn for that could be... Cheri (Shah-ree) is french meaning my love.
(have known a girl named Cheri, she has accent over the 'i'.)

be adorable calling your daughter Charlotte, Cheri.

i love that, Cheri

Hmmm...I was just thinking would Charlotte Addison be bad since our last name starts with a B?

I happen to like -son names for girls. They are very common here in the Deep South. Some parents here change the -son to -syn to make it "look" more feminine, but the -son doesn't bother me. I don't have these pre-determined male or female names. I always say a name aloud, listen to how it sounds, and decide if I like it for a boy or girl more.

You are doing exactly what I see a lot here too- putting an ultra-feminine first name with it. To me, when you use a classic girls' name with a surnamish/masculine-style mn, it makes the whole name very edgy and hip!

Charlotte Addison is great.

Spelling variants I've seen- Emersyn, Gracen, Ellyson

Others I know of and have seen on girls- Cason, Ellison, Lawson, Larson, Garrison, Dawson, Bryson, Brinson, Pierson, Wilson, Hudson, Branson, Carson, Harrison, Hanson, Clayson, Anderson, Chason

Tennyson, Dobson, Jackson, Johnson, Gibson, Olson, Nelson, Sampson, Thompson, Watson

Let us know what you decide! Ginger
