If you have a minute, I'd love it if you'd tell me why you like/don't like some of the names. Thanks!

I voted for Rosalie. I like that it's very girly & sweet, but still works well on an adult. The name also rolls off your tounge very nicely, & it's also very uncommon. However, it's still reconizable & simple to pronounce. Cora, Clara, Caroline, & Juliette are all lovely as well. The deciding factor for me to choose Rosalie, was that the nn options were the best, imo. Carrie reminds me of the Stephen King movie (Ah!) Cori is very masculine (well, Corey anyway. But the pronounciation is the same), & Clare seems kind of akward as a nn. Rosa/Rose/& Rosie are all darling!

I voted for Eliza as I have always loved that name, but I also really like Astrid (DH hates this though), Caroline, Cora, and Clara.

I have never like Victoria as it seems kind of snooty and I hate Vicki and Tori as nns. India is a bit too exotic for me (I put that up there with Asia and Chyna). I prefer Julia to Juliette and prefer the Juliet spelling anyway. And I have never been a fan of any of the Rose---- names, Rosalie among them.

Actually I liked ALL the names on your list! My favorites were Cora, Juliette, Astrid and Caroline.

I liked all those names because they are classics.

Well, I don't have any strong feelings Against any of the names on your list, but here are some reasons for the names I don't care for:

- Eliza...just sounds old to me, 18 hundreds-ish

- Astrid...no offense, but childhood memories make this a dog's name for me

- India...not my style to name people after places

- Clara...reminds me of a cow on TV

- Juliette...very pretty but I don't like the 'Romeo & Juliette' association

For names that I liked, that leaves:

- Rosalie...Rose was my grandmother's middle name, I really like names with family connection

- Caroline...no special reason

- Cora...name of childhood best friend, usually I like longer names

- Victoria...no special reason

I like Victoria, not Vickie please!, because it is feminine and strong. It is also not a name you hear very often used as the proper name. Usually you hear Vickie but Victoria sounds powerful. I considered the name Megan Victoria for DD but DH didn't like either.

Just so you guys know:

I love the name India, not because of its association with the country, but because Gone With the Wind has been my favorite movie ever since I can remember, and my favorite book since the first time I read it. I've always thought that India Wilkes was the most gorgeous name in literature. So, that's why I love it.

Victoria is my middle name, after my mother, whose name is Vicki.

Cora is after one of the characters in James Fenimore Cooper's The Last of the Mohicans. Cora was a strong, vital woman, and I admired her when I read the book when I was young. Also, when the movie came out, my father and I watched it together, and it is one of the most special times I remember with him growing up.

Juliette is after a friend (not to be confused with Juliet, Romeo's ill-starred love). I speak mediocre French, so I spelled it the French way.

Hi ~ here are my opinions on your list (India, Caroline, Juliette, and Astrid are my favorites)

Rosalie: I don't like the way this sounds ... I don't know why, but it makes me think of old people.

Eliza: It's OK - no strong feeling one or the other.

Astrid: The more I think about this one, the more I like it. At first it reminded me of the Jetsons cartoon (there's a dog named Astro). I've never met an Astrid.

India: I love this name ... there's the cutest "India" in my son's mother's day out. It's unique, and I really like the way it sounds. And I picture "India" as being creative and artistic.

Caroline: For a more traditional name, this is one of my favorites when it's pronounced Caro-LINE. It's classy and classic. I detest the nickname "Carol" though. Much prefer "Carly."

Cora: I just don't like how this one sounds.

Clara: See above

Juliette: I like this name a lot, I think it looks pretty in writing, it sounds nice, and it's sophisticated yet feminine. I like "Julia" as a nickname.

Victoria: I like it, dislike "Vicky" though. It seems to be getting more and more popular.

Astrid is our #1 girls name right now. I'm pretty attached to Scandinavian names. I think Astrid is a great name. It's respectable, beautiful, cute, carries over into adulthood but great for a child...
