Last name is Lauren. We're looking for something on the different, but not wierd, side. I go back and forth between them all, so thanks for voting!!!

With last name Lauren, I would avoid Ahren/Aaron. I voted for Zander James. Any chance naming him Alexander James and calling him Zander? I've even seen it spelled Alekzander.

Zander and Atticus are nice names...but I teach third-grade and I know what those children will do to your names :-)

I would go with Elliott.

I think you should spell it Aaron like your last name, not Ahren

why would you change the spelling when you're using it because it was your maiden name???

My maiden name was Ahrens. It would be the only link to family in the name, and there will be no link if I spell it the regular way. It's a middle name, so there aren't as many worries about mispronunciation. Further, I don't like common names, and Aaron is really common. (I actually don't even like the name, just the family connection). I'm only making an exception for James (totally common) because it was my grandfather's name and he died a couple years ago.

I'm interested to know what children would do to Atticus and Zander? :) I'm a little concerned that Elliott is more common than I'd like, but I think it's still far enough down there. It's the front-runner, though.

Thanks for your help!

Atticus James

I prefer the "Aaron" spelling to "Ahren".

I like the idea of using your maiden name as his middle name. I did that, too.

I've been seeing Elliott more lately, but as a girl's name, believe it or not. The nn Ellie is getting pretty popular, as is the unisex trend, so I think that's why Elliott is getting popular with girls.

My son went to pre-school with a Xander, but his full name was Alexander. I think Zander is fine, but I would give him the full name for more flexibility when he's older.

Atticus is a bit too much for me. I always do this name test: "what if he's small, with poor gross motor skills and wears glasses?" I just couldn't add the name Atticus to his little school life.
