Hi there. I voted for Bridget. I love this name. It's very sweet & soft sounding for a little girl, but could also work well for a strong & independent woman. It's perfect! Bridie is an adorable nn as well. I also really like Greta. It's got about the same appeal as Bridget does for me. It's sweet & girly, but also strong sounding at the same time. Eleanor is fine, but I just don't care for the sound of it. Nora, on the other hand, is quite lovely. Do you not like that on it's own? I personally don't think that Eleanor nn Nora makes all that much sense. Eleanora nn Nora would be a better idea, imo. Hope this helps!

We know way too many Ellies and Ellas to chose that as a nn. I am looking for something that is a known name, but not common at all. I would really rather she be the only one in her class with the name, but still not have some weird kre8tiv name to accomplish that. Thanks though, I am leaning more and more towards Eleanor (now to convince pesky DH that it is the name).

How do I choose? I have a Greta, so that's my natural pick. Most people don't know another Greta so I get lots of comments on it. Most of the comments are positive! But I still get a few "Huh, you don't hear that much!" I don't care, I still love it.

However, if I had to name another girl, she would be Eleanor Jane (Nora) in a heartbeat. But that's a nod to family names including Lynnore, Ellen and Norma. Nora is a great nn!

And I love Bridget, too!

They're all great! Unique, older, they age well, without being weird.

Eleanor is a bit of a family name. A dear cousin of DH who died last year. We weren't close enough to deliberately name it after her, but the fact that ew love the name that she shared does make it a nice connection. She went by Eleanor or Elle, but I think we'll stick with Nora.

Greta is a nickname for Margaret.

I voted for Bridget.

I wanted Margaret, nn Greta, but DH thinks that is way too much of an "old lady name". He loves Greta as a stand alone name, so there it goes, and I like it enough to use it without the full name.

I've known someone with each of these names so my opinions are affected by personal association!

Eleanor: I've never liked this name because of a personal association but I might feel differently if like you I had a nice cousin who had the name. It feels laborious to me, a little schoolmarmish. I feel like it didn't even do justice to a sexy-ish woman like Eleanor Mondale. I do love Nora all on its own. Feminine and strong enough to stand alone.

Greta: I knew a Greta I liked, who was pretty though she was a big girl and having this German-sounding name kind of accentuated that fact. If you don't expect to be parents to a larger-boned, tall child, I think Greta is endearing and sweet, yet strong in a good way.

Bridget: I like this name. But the two Bridgets I know get nicknamed "Bridge" at times for short, and I hate that. Little harder for a very small child to pronounce at first though that's temporary, of course.

My pick would be Nora. I also like it with Aiden. Good luck!
