I voted "love it" but like the spelling Eliana (one l) better. I think that is the traditional way of spelling it. I also love Liliana. GL!!!

Can I just take a moment to lobby against Elliana?
1- It is part of two currently overdone trends:
Great name!
Beautiful!
:-)
I like the spelling Eliana best. I wanted to name my daughter this but the hubby wanted Elena more.
Lia
Mama to Elena (3) and little Javi (due in July)!
I love Eliana! And to Marcia, I understand your pain -- my son's name is Noah and had he been a girl, it was between Chloe and Ava. This was in 1997. 1997 was the year Noah and Chloe shot up the charts and Ava followed shortly thereafter with an even bigger bullet. By the time I had a girl (1999), Chloe and Ava were off our list because they were just too popular. (And we had a soccer game last year with 3 Noah's on the field, lol. Sigh, we tried to be original without being strange, but it didn't work very well.)
I have a little Elena myself, and my sister suggested Ellie as a nickname. For one thing, Ellie reminds me of the Beverly Hillbillies, but I don't like nicknames anyway, so it was nixed as a NN in any case. But now? Ellie seems to be everywhere as a NN for any girl name with an 'el' anywhere in it (slight exaggeration, but YKWIM). I'm sooo glad my little girl is Elena with no NN.
Anyway, I'm rambling a bit, but I do understand wanting to do what you can to keep Eliana "your" name. But it's beautiful and I can see why people are considering it. Better that than everyone thinking your child's name is ghastly...

I'm seeing McGillicutty in the top 10 within 3 years of you using it, lol!! Somehow, we must have our finger on the pulse of names with impending popularity.
We do have similar taste -- I considered Charlotte for Elena (who is 3.5), but DH didn't like it. DH really wanted Jillian, which I like (and actually originally suggested), but not as much as Elena. Hmmm, Jillian is a beautiful name that doesn't seem to have the popularity momentum right now.
I seem to have done okay popularity-wise with my middle child, Adrienne. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that Sylvester Stallone doesn't decide to make Rocky 27 or Rocky the Musical or whatever because if that happens, I know the "Yo, Adrian" stuff will start and I'll be really bummed.
And just musing here, but another name we considered for Noah was Luke -- but I nixed it for worry of popularity. And of course, Noah has pretty much eclipsed it in popularity. Oh well. I still love the name Luke and it seems to have held steady in terms of not being too popular.
I love this baby naming stuff, lol...
