I voted for Anna, but we also call our DD Annie, and her first name is Julianna.

My name is Annie -- not a nickname for anything. The intent when I was named was that I'd go by my middle & first name together (Annie Mae) but that's a bit too "country" for me, and only my family calls me that. I like my name (although I didn't always) because it's not that common, people tend to like it & remember it, it's spunky, & a bit old fashioned, but not out-dated. But, I am ALWAYS asked what my real name is. One person went so far as suggesting that I change my name to Anastasia, but still go by Annie (um...no...it's a little late for that!) So anyway, I think it's a good name, but also a good idea to use it as a nickname like you're planning to do.

I love the name Annelise but don't really care for either of the mn's you paired it with.

Well, I did it with Julianna, nn Annie. I figure if it's your kid, you can give whatever name you want. ;-) We do use Julianna some of the time, too, and I know that when she's older, she may decide that she prefers Juli/Julie as a nn, and her friends may call her Jules or J, but then it's her call.

For now, I like calling her Annie (although I will probably gradually switch to Julianna as she gets older). :-)

Aha, there you are ;) I knew there was a mommy to Julianna nn Annie around here but I couldn't remember the user name.

Anyway, I figure she'll be Julianne and Annie, like Nicholas is also Nick and Christopher is also Junior. They're all interchangeable :)

Yep, I like having a variety of nns to choose from, too. I occasionally get a weird look when I tell people her name is Julianna, but we call her Annie, but I don't worry about it. We're using Julianna more often every day and even Juli occasionally (my DH actually preferred the nn Juli), but she mainly goes by Annie.

Of course, I think Julianne, nn Annie, is beautiful. :-)
