I think you should name him William and call him Will

I wouldn't say tacky but I'm sure you'd (actually, he'd) get a lot of "Will SMITH?" "No, Will Schmitt!"

LOL

When I saw the subject I couldn't figure out why on earth it would be tacky. It's not. Naming your kid Will Smith would be a little weird, but not tacky. Naming your kid Fresh Prince Schmitt would be tacky. Will Schmitt is fine. But I prefer William, nn Will.

Okay, maybe this is a stretch, but I voted that it's tacky not b/c it sounds like Will Smith, but b/c it sounds like "will *poop*." I knew a girl growing up whose name was Maggie May Roll, and having a name that's a sentence is just too much, IMO.

Will is a great name, though, so I'd still go for it if you don't love anything else, but I wanted to let you know the first thing I thought of.

Good luck!

Yes, I do think it is too close to Will Smith but it also sounds nearly like "will spit". I would only go with the full name William so the first and last do not interact however he may be identified as a "Will" from early on and it may stick.
