Told DH about meaning of Cameron.....

Okay, so I told him what Cameron means...."crooked nose." It has almost totally turned him off to the name. He says that since the other 2 boys have much better name meanings that it would be almost mean to give this baby the meaning of "bent nose." He still likes the name, but is now scared of using it (especially if any of you remember my sister and how they teased us that Brendan meant "smelly hair".....)
SO, he are the names that he is considering. What are your thoughts????
Evan (I have a young cousin by this name, yet see him MAYBE once a year.)
Ethan (I think this is his front-runner, my least favorite.)
Camden (he isn't 100% sold on this one)
The middle name choices are Joseph, William, and possibly Vincent (all family names).
There may be more names coming, but these are what we have come up with so far. THanks again for all your help. I never imagined #3 would be this hard to name!!!

Oh! I remember the "smelly hair" post! That is so mean of her! I have to say, knowing that was your family, I'd avoid giving the little guy an unavoidably "unattractive" meaning, especially if dh is bothered by it.
However, of your other choices, I think Evan would work perfectly. Fits with your other kids well and I don't think it's nearly as popular as Ethan (which doesn't fit as well to me, so I'm with you on that one). Evan Joseph (E.J. if you wanted) or Evan William both sound good ... I'd avoid Vincent though.
HTH!

Andrea
Andrea's right ... I just looked up Brendan for you in every name book I have, and only one even mentions the supposed "foul-smelling hair" meaning (that would be The Everything Baby Names Book, which I've found a number of incorrect meanings in, so perhaps you should tell her to buy a new book? ROFL). Incidentally, there is no hair-related meaning (smelly or otherwise) in any of my Celtic name books, nor do I remember ever encountering this meaning on any Celtic sites. I know the whole smelly-hair arguement is (hopefully) in the past, but if she ever brings it up again just tell her sometimes authors don't have a clue what they're talking about. LOL

I like Evan William the best.
Have you considered Campbell? Unfortunately, it means 'crooked mouth' in my book, but at least you could argue it means he's happy and smiling!! LOL
Given that we are also on the Cameron/Camden wagon, this was a name I liked but DH didn't (of course...!)
Good luck
