Oh no, please re think this. Baylee is terrible!! Can you honestly think of your daughter handing out business cards with Baylee as her name? I am really sorry, I think it sounds made up and over the top cutesy.

I knew a girl named Bailey. I think it's a cute name. I'm more fond of the Bailey spelling. Is the Baylee

I had a hunch about why I didn't like this name and I've affirmed it by asking a few real live kids about it. Here's what each of them said:

"Bayleen! Like what whales eat with!" -- Dan, age 6
"Baylee whaley STUPID NAME" -- David, age 7
"Baleen is that kind of whale that has the special filter for small fish and algae." -- Karen, age 11

So, there you have it. Three kids who all immediately associate Baylee with whales and algae. Except David, who arguably was just making up a dumb rhyme because he couldn't come up with a smart reason to dislike it.

But yeah... I think naming girls anything that sounds like a part of whale anatomy (which is studied in the public school curriculum around grade 2) is probably misguided.

This association is made far worse with Baylee Ann (since that might as well *be* a drawn-out pronunciation of baleen).

And I do agree that a resume with Baylee at the top would be met with a raised eyebrow and a trip to the bin. It's like naming your girl Bambi or Beckie (though, at least those are arguably actual names). It just couldn't be taken seriously.

And all that without mentioning Irish cream.

So, in short, if you *must*, then go with Bailey. If you can stomach Hailey, go with that. If Hailey is too popular for your tastes, go with Heidi or Kelly.

I voted Baylee Nicole because I think it flows better together. But I love the name Kendyll- they just don't go together to me. Kendyll is a choice I have if we have a girl.

My cousin is named Bailey Shaw ... so Shaw is a cute middle name for Bailey.

Hey, I already posted one time, but I just went back and read the others and I wanted to say that I love the name Baylee. I don't think that it will effect her getting a job. I think there are far worse names. I think it's a cute, sweet name. So if you love it, stick with it.
