I voted boy, but the "sounds like Gavin with a D" may have swayed me a bit. ;) Also, the fact that it looks like the beginning of David might make me assume boy.

I have a Devanie, however, so to me Devan or Devin would look/sound feminine (although I realize that would be a short e beginning rather than a short a). Devon is said slightly differently here and is used for either sex.

So through all that rambling, I guess I'd assume Davan was a boy (and if you're going for girl I might use a similar name like Devan ... only one letter off).

Awhile back I liked Davan for a girl. I find most names with a 'v' in it sound feminine. I'm wondering if Davan would work on a boy or not. I'm not a fan of Evan, Gavin, or Devon on a boy. I'm not sure if I could convince myself that it would be ok on a boy because I had thought of it for a girl's name, KWIM?
I read that Davan is a female form of David and now it's all coming back to me why I had it on my girl's list. ;) Hmmmmm....

I wouldn't pronounce it like Gavin with a D, I would pronounce it like Da Man with a V.

Sounds like a boy name, not a girl name but I don't care for it either way.
