Love it. It's a beautiful, classic name with a nice, long history.

My only caveat is that I wouldn't want her to be lumped in with the myriad of little Ellies

The name Eleanor is dear to me, because it is my grandmothers name. So I voted that I like it, but it NMS for a fn for one of my children ( I much prefer her mn which is Violet). I would consider it as a mn personally, but its a nice name with a few different nn possibilities! Good luck!

Violet would definitely be a contender, but our last name ends in ette.

Lovely, classic name ... love it! ;)

As Annie mentioned, however, I'd avoid any El- nns (Elle, Ella, Ellie, etc.) in favor of Nora (which I also love!).

I love Eleanor because it was my grandmother's name and is now my dd's middle name! It's just so classic!

I adore this name! It was my number 3 choice for my daughter Charlotte, after Lila and Violet. All three were "taken" by friends. I think it is darling, a true classic, oversized grosgrain hairbow, tea parties and black patent maryjanes sort of name. Nora is cute as a nn but I prefer the full Eleanor.

I LOVE the name but it is too popular. Grouped in there with the Ellies, Emmies, Addies and Maddies she'll get lost. I know you are thinking nn Nora...why not just Nora? Who doesn't love Nick and Nora Charles?
