My husband and I had so much trouble trying to think of a name for our baby girl and couldn't agree on anything. After awhile I suggested the name Garner. I know it's usually a last name and sounds a lot more like a boy name than a girl name, but it's a place where my family and I vacation every summer and I thought it would be very cute and original. My husband loves it and so do I, so I was just wondering what other people thought. We are naming her Garner Autum, Autum being my mom's name.

Garner seems very masculine to me, but it has special meaning to you. I love Autumn (this spelling).

My mother-in-law's best friend is named Garner, so it seems very appropriate for a female to me! Love the middle name, too.

We had Garner Colton Trey (it would have been the 3rd boy) picked out for our next child, if a boy, until I stumbled upon something we loved more. I love it...for a boy.

That is so CRAZY!! I'm from the town right next to there. I've lived there all my life until three years ago! Needless to say, I think the name would be adorable and unique. It really is a small world right?

The name isn't my style, but I can appreciate its significance to you and its originality without being made-up. That said, I think you should go for it.

AS long as you love it, that's what counts. It's not the type of name I would personally go for, but that's what makes the world go round! My biggest hesitation would be that it might get shortened to Garny and that just sounds like gurney to me (as in they brought the body in on a gurney). It's great that you and your dh found a name you love.

Absolutely gorgeous and I love the significance behind it. What's most important is that you and dh are in agreement, and it's special to you. You will experience some clarification issues and some blank stares, but the gushing and compliments will far outweight that! Best wishes, Ginger
