The name is to close to anikin - as in Darth Vader of Star Wars. May want to save her the jokes about going to the dark side

I think Annika Joy is beautiful -- a great choice. Of course, my DDs are Megan Joy and Julianna May (nn Annie), so I may be a little biased. ;-)

I noticed that another poster mentioned Anakin Skywalker, and I don't think that will be an issue for her at all. First, the Star Wars movies are of our generation, not our children's. Also, Annika Sorenstam is a well-known golfer, so it's not like Anakin is the first association for most people.

Again, I think the name is gorgeous!

Someone earlier asked how to pronounce this... DH and I say "ANN-uh-kuh"

DH is a huge Star Wars fan and that's probably why he likes the name. :)

I don't know if the pronunciation issue will bother you, but I and most everyone I know pronounce this name AH-ni-kah, rather than ANN-uh-kuh (sort of like Monica without the M). I know a little girl with this name, and she and her parents pronounce it just like I do. I think it's a beautiful name, so don't think that I'm criticizing...I just thought you may want to be aware that some people may pronounce it differently.
