What goes with Irene and Marie?

We are expecting our third girl in May and are having a touch time with a 3rd girl name. Our oldest is Irene Helen named after two of her grandmothers and our second is named Marie Grace.

I'm worried about picking a name that is too popular but unfortunately all the names DH likes are pop. Also, we've been thinking about Grace even though it is our other daughters mn. Is it okay to use another childs middle name as the first name for the new baby? We've also been trying to keep the names similar; going for names that were popular for our grandparents generation.

Our short list:

Grace
Emily
Isabelle

Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Hi there, & congrats on #3!

Irene & Marie are so fantastically refreshing. Lets keep up the good work!

I'm afraid that your short list isn't cutting it. Those are all perfectly nice names, but they're all three feeling a tad stale these days. Complete oppisite feel that I get from your dds' names.

Here are some suggestions that might work:

Alice

Ada

Audrey

Beverly

Clara

Edith/Edie

Frances/Francie

June/Junie

Kathleen/Kitty-Seriously, you guys seem like you've got the sib set that could get away w/Kitty. It's so cute!

Pearl

Rose/Rosie

Hope this helps!

I definitely understand not wanting something overly-popular with big sisters Irene and Marie. Maybe something like:

Isidora (similar to Isabelle/a, without the popularity)
Eudora
Beatrix/Beatrice
Alice
Eloise
Louisa
Eleanor
Elmira/Almira
Ada
Adele
Della
Harriett (nn Hattie is very sweet)
Henrietta/Hester (ditto Hettie )
Esther/Stella
Dorothy/Dorothea
Cynthia
Lina
Laurice
Sylvia/Silvia
Pearl
Opal
Jane

No, no, NO! ;) There are literally millions of names out there to choose from. So far you've used four. To now recycle one of those for this child kind of makes it seem like you "wasted" the good name on the other -- cheapening it for the dd whose mn it is, since it's "just" a mn and therefore not entirely "hers" for some reason, and possibly even making the youngest dd feel unplanned or unwanted (since you apparently hadn't planned on having to name another girl, having already used all the names you liked on the other two). Not saying I think that ... but that's how it could be interpreted by your dds or others, KWIM?

There are plenty of names that would go with Irene and Marie. I'm confidant you can find a few you'd both love. ;)

personally I wouldn't name one of my children another one of my children's mn. I do like Isabelle from your list though.

other ideas:

Beatrice
Ruth
Audrey
Violet
Charlotte
Theresa
Lillian
Estelle/ Stella
Alice (this fits really well with your other childrens names I think personally. It's 5 letters, Irene, Marie and Alice were all in the top 20 names for girls in the 1920s and it's not overly common either)
Dorothy
Joyce
Patricia
Ruby
Eleanor
Josephine

HTH!

To go with Irene Helen and Marie Grace ...

Grace - I don't think you should use DD's mn

Emily - nice but it's so, so popular (like #1 or #2 for several years) while Irene & Marie are less common

Isabelle - also very very popular & I don't think it fits as well with Irene and Marie

I looked at the Baby Name Wizard and saw that Irene and Marie were
