I have only ever seen the Adair spelling, so Adaire looks a bit off when I look at it. Are they both valid spellings? I do love the name though, so pretty and strong.

I'd also stick with Adair. The "e" on the end of Adaire doesn't look terrible, especially since it's not a common name most would know the traditional spelling of, but I still prefer the more "common" spelling (in a manner of speaking ).

FWIW, I've honestly never seen the Adaire form anywhere (not that it should stop you, just an observation) -- generally it's Adair or Daire, and the "e" on the end would make me first assume a pronunciation of a-DAW-ra. So while I can see combining the two forms as a legitimate spelling, I'd only do so if you absolutely prefer the Adaire spelling, KWIM? In other words, no need to make an uncommon name any more so, and you don't have to try to make it appear more feminine, for the same reason. I don't think it's known enough for many to assume gender. It's good as is. ;)

Yeah, I've only ever seen Adair, too. But someone mentioned Adaire to me, and according to her, it's valid. Apparently, it follows the same male/female rule as Clair/Claire and Blair/Blaire. I'm still not sure I like it, though. Adair just looks...well, right to me.

I prefer Adair. The extra e just seems superfluous and therefore "frilly". And you know I prefer sweet and simple to frilly. :)

Yes, please, no frilly! :-)

How are you? You've been gone forever!
