I couldn't vote... all spellings look trendy and made up.

I voted for Jaelyn for a couple of reasons. First, this is probably just me, but I don't like the options with "Jail" as pasrt of the name. I'm sure it wouldn't bother lots of people, but I found it kind of jarring. And second, although I have heard of this as a girls' name or unisex name, I have only actually seen it used for boys, and spelled Jalen or (if I recall correctly) Jalyn (aged about 15 or 16, perhaps before all the y's started being used mostly as vowel substitutes mostly for girls' names?). So I was looking for a choice that suggested "girl" to me. The best one I saw was Jaelyn. But if I really wanted to go with a J name, I would choose Jacinta or Jessamine. Sorry - unsolicited opinion. Best wishes!

I don't have a preference, but I voted for Jaelin because I thought it looked the best. If I were you, I'd avoid Jailyn, Jailen, or any other spelling containing the word "jail." They bring words like jailbird and (worse) jailbait to mind.

thanks so muuch for your input. I do agree that the ones with "jail" are jarring. i've thought it the whole time, but just wanted to make sure that it wasn't just me. As for all the spellings being trendy, i put "jalen" on there because it's the correct spelling-no ajustments done. so, for those who say it's too trendy, do you mean the name or the spelling?

I like the Jaylen spelling best, but I personally wouldn't use this name at all. It's not my style, but other than that, it's very similar to Jayden (and its variants). My mom has three Jaydens (spellings vary) in her class that I know of, boys AND girls.

I voted for Jalen simply because it's the most correct spelling, but it is most certainly trendy, no matter how you spell it. The name itself is a recent masculine creation being used for girls, along with the VERY similar Jadon (and all ITS various misspellings) and the rest of the rhyming Aidan names. So part of the gender-bender and Aidan naming trends by association. Add in the inevitable -lyn misspellings, and you also have the random Y trend and the basic trend to tack a "Lyn" ending onto any random name and call it feminine. So the name AND the myriad spellings are trendy as a whole.

I'd personally want something a bit more substantial and less common/trendy, but that's just me. If you simply wanted to know WHY many view it as a trendy choice, there you have it. ;)

I can't really vote...don't care for any of them. The name in general, seems insubstantial and trendy to me. I think if you want a J name, there are plenty of prettier ones:

Jacqueline
Jane
Jessica
Jewel
Joanna
Jocelyn
Josephine
Joy
Julia/Julianne/Juliana
Juliet/Juliette

<<< I couldn't vote... all spellings look trendy and made up.>>>

I couldn't have said it better myself, except to add that it's not just the spellings, but the name itself.
