Ooo, I really like Phoebe. I'm not sure it is the name that GOES best with Claire as there is a big gap in popularity between the two, but it has the same soft spunkiness. All of the names on your list work really well. The only one I dislike is Maggie as a full (too cutesy).

I vote for either Anne, Anna or Sophie. Anne is by far the least common.

Man! I'll have to think on this and vote later. LOL

My top three (in no order) would be ...

Amelie - you know I love this for you. The only concern (not MY concern, but A concern LOL) is the popularity of the similar Emily/Amelia, etc., but

Eveline is prenounced the same as Evelyn. The -ine is the French spelling. I chose the Elinor spelling for the same reason. When in doubt I just go for the French spellings.

I'm still leaning towards Audrey over Amélie, I just can't seem to cross Amélie off my list. My concern is the pronunciation and spelling issue since our last name is difficult to spell and pronounce as well.

Thanks for your input!

Yeah, I didn't use to like Anne, but it's a dark horse lately. Especially considering all the positive responses my friend who named her daughter "Mary" has gotten. I feel like it SHOULD be more popular than it is.

Darn. ;) I assumed it was the spelling more common in French, but also figured that meant it WOULD ensure the -LEEN ending (like Adeline, Angeline, Celine, etc.). Oh well. LOL

Well, I guess it would if you insisted that it did. In French that is how you would say it "Ehv-LEEN" but not a drawn-out een. You could just insist that it be pronounced the French way, but I would personally be concerned that would come off pretentious.

I don't think Eveline/ehv-LEEN would come off as pretentious at all, Steph. ;)

To be honest, it's the pronunciation I assume for Eveline unless told it's said the same as Evelyn (otherwise, I consider them separate pronunciations). Just as I wouldn't see Evangeline and automatically think "e-VAN-ge-lyn", KWIM? My first thought would be e-VAN-gel-een. ;)

And in this case, that's not even due to Eveline being the common French form (since I wouldn't have thought twice about it if this weren't your poll ), because it's also used as an Anglicization for the Irish Eibhlin -- with the EV-leen or EV-e-leen pronounciation -- so I just naturally assume it. I actually had it on my own list until Devanie started calling herself Evie (it would be a bit too odd to have a Devanie, nn Evie, and Eveline, NOT Evie ROFL).
