We really like the name Alysse (Ah-lees) but am wondering what the best spelling might be. The middle name is Christine after my mother. (I don't want it to be confused with Alice)

Please share your opinion on:

Alysse Christine
Alyse Christine
Alise Christine
Elyse Christine
Elise Christine

Thanks! Also, for boys we like Jackson or Kieran. Which one?

Elise is the only spelling on that list that makes sense to me. The others really just look strange. I do love Elise by the way.

As for boys, I would go with Kieran. Jackson is pretty overdone, unless he really is the son of Jack.

I like either Elyse Christine or Elise Christine.

As for boys, I'm not actually crazy about either of those names but I guess I would choose Jackson if I had to.

Thanks. I love the name Elise and have found it in a few different ways - I appreciate the response. I love the name Kieran too!

Elise is a nice name--the rest of these spellings look odd to me.

Both Jackson and Kieran are nice. I would go with Kieran, just because Jack and Jackson are so common, and I always like to hear different, less common names (when they're not made up, that is ^.^).

Definitely Elise Christine- a very pretty name!

For the boys options, I'd prefer Kieran over Jackson just because Jackson has been common over the past few years and Kieran is a really strong and cool name that I don't hear as often. Good luck to you!

I would avoid any of the Y spellings -- not even because of the random Y trend of the moment! ;) Alysse/Alyse looks like some sort of twist on Alyssa (to be honest, on first glace I READ Alysse as Alyssa, and wondered how you got the Ah-lees pronunciation from that LOL), so I'd think this was a-LIS ... a-LIS-a without the A ending.

Elyse is ok, but you still have that trendy and confusing Y, so I much prefer Elise to this. Ah-lees/eh-lees/e-lees all sound fairly similar to me, so depending on accent, I think this is the name you're looking for.

Alise is actually a valid name as well (not made up), and I think it would also lend itself to the pronunciation you desire. Most recognize -lise as LEES, add an A beginning sound and voila ... Ah-lees.

So to summarize, Elise is the most visually appealing IMO, but Alise works too. ;)

Thanks for your response! Would you think that Alise might be okay? I like a name that starts with an A for some reason better than one with E...not sure why, but either

Alise Christine

Or

Elise Christine

are what we think we are going to go with. For the boys name I think we'd go with Kieran and the middle name is Richard after my FIL.

Kieran Richard

Any thoughts?

Ack! Just realized you had boy names mentioned at the bottom as well. Second time today I overlooked the closing line! LOL

Let me start off by saying I like both names, but there are positives and negatives to both.

Jackson -- in a perfect would, I'd love this name, but it seems everywhere you turn there's a Jackson, Jaxon, Jack, John (nn Jack), etc. LOL Doesn't make it a bad name, but if popularity is a concern, this is most certainly the more common choice.

Jackson itself is #36 nationally (not counting other spellings, like the previously-mentioned Jaxon), and simply Jack is just one spot below at 35. Interestingly enough, these two are actually equally popular, each claiming 10,720 boys with that name born in 2006, for a total of 21,440 Jack(son)s. That would put those two alone at number 4, just under Jacob, Michael and Joshua. John is even more popular on paper
