Well, this time I didn't have to choose between the two I'm torn against for you, Talulla Scarlett and Talulla Cecily, lol. I've been thinking about this the past couple of days, I would like to change my vote in the last poll from Talulla Scarlett to Talulla Cecily. Even though Cecily isn't a favorite of mine, I do like it here, especially with the whole Lucy nn. I just think Talulla nn Lucy is the best fit with your girls and i absolutely adore Lucy.

To me, Imogene is just a little too different in style with your other girls, it just doesn't fit as well to me. I am also not sure of what nn you would use, so that would help in my decision.

I like Gwyneth in general, but I kind of find it a little bland with your other girls, I'm not sure why, as I generally think of it as a nice unexpected treat.

Mairenn is also sweet, and this is a great choice too. I think I am so attracted to Talulla for you though, that its hard for me to unbaised when thinking of other names, lol. I also am unsure of a nn here, so that may change my perception here too.

I guess I am not much help tonight, am I?
I like them all and think that any of them would work fine in your family, and I would love to see you use any of them, they are all great choices.

Thanks for the comments, Jina. As you can see, Aila's made a rare post-midnight waking (and is adamant that she play a bit before going back to bed, so here I am LOL), so it's nice to have something to focus my tired eyes on besides the Jeffersons. :)

I figured this was a good way to gauge whether it's Talulla as a fn people actually prefer, or if Talulla Jane was simply winning out as the most expected, predictable-mn type combo -- or even simply because there were so many Talulla Something options, many just went with the one they liked best of those and ignored the ones with Talulla as a mn, KWIM? Hopefully that made sense ... I'm sleepy. LOL

As to Imogen -- IM-o-jen, not IM-o-jeen, btw (wasn't sure if Imogene was a typo or if you really read it as such, so figured a quick correction would suffice ) -- I'm not sure what nn would work best, but am glad you noticed that little glitch. I certainly don't think all names necessarily HAVE to have an obvious nn, but I would consider the options since all three of the girls have nns ... as much to rule out potentially problematic ones (Nathanial, nn Nate, with Kate, for example LOL) as to find one I do like, KWIM? I had a separate thread going recently about exactly this, and some that I'd tossed around or that were suggested by others included

Oooh, I didn't know Mairenn/Mairin was a possibility. You know Mairin was my number one for a long time. I think it's GORGEOUS. I do prefer that spelling, but of course I like Mairenn as well. I love love love Mairenn Tallula nn Molly! LOVE it! Molly is one of my all-time favorite names. That got my vote (this time at least, you know I can't choose!) but I'm also really, really loving Tallula Cecily nn Lucy.

Good to know, Annie. ;) I actually didn't think you'd care for the slight difference between Mairenn and Mairin, but I think you'll understand why I love the subtle change in just two words -- Maureen McCormick!!! Heck, even a simple search for "Maureen," no ln, brings her right up. LOL I just couldn't do it, even if I do like it. But Mairenn seemed just different enough, and would be an obvious nod to my grandmother without actually using her exact name (which happens to be Mary Ann, so Mairenn seems even more perfect, KWIM? ). And I also love Molly ... who wouldn't love a little Molly McCormick.

Do you think the pronunciation would be that problematic, btw? I prefer MAWR-en with our ln. Like the beginning of Mairead and ending of Muirenn

As much as I love Imogen, I voted for Talulla. Talulla McCormick is too stunning to pass up.

Talulla Cecily and Talulla Jane are both beautiful. I also like Talulla Mairenn, nn Tam. The one mn listed that I don't like is Pearl (ooh, it hurt to write that!). Pearl almost seems to pull the name out of Ireland and plant it firmly in Georgia, more Tallulah than Talulla.

Actually, the more I say Mairenn, the more I love it. I think the pronounciation is gorgeous, maybe even better than Mairin. I don't think you'll have any more trouble with the the pron. than you would with any traditional spelling. People are going to mess up and you'll have to correct them, but once you do, it should stick.

And I think it's a perfect nod to your grandmother. So exciting!

Hi Kelli,
just fyi regarding Mairenn, I don't think that "rhymes with Lauren" is a very clear description, considering the various ways people pronounce Lauren: LORE-en, LAWR-en, LAHR-en. I personally pronounce it LORE-en, but I know most east-coasters don't. I was confused until you wrote it out : )

Yep, this does help, because now I am loving Maireen Talulla, nn Molly too.

Hands down, my favs are Talulla Cecily and Maireen Talulla which are tied for first and Talulla Scarlett is a close second. None of the nns for Imogen (yup, Imogene was a typo) are jumping out at me, and Gwyneth still seems a little to plain to me.

If I had to vote right now, I'd stick with the nn Lucy, but if you give me 5 minutes, I might change to the nn Molly.

Sidenote, Hayes also had a rare mignight wake up last night. Luckily he went right back to sleep with a little rocking. Last night when I asked him why he woke up he told me he was "too hot", but this morning when I asked him "what happened last night buddy?" his response was "I cry" and I asked him why and he said "Need mommy rock" Hmm, the little bugger!

Though I quite like Maureen -- but like Annie, find the original Mairin even more appealing -- Mairenn isn't said the exact same way, so the fact that you think that name would sound odd on a baby really doesn't come into play here. It'd be basically the same as saying you find Lorene an odd name for a child when someone's considering Lauren.

And while I appreciate the suggestion of Maria, I think using a common filler mn like Maria/Marie would somewhat lessen the meaning behind it in my own mind. I love Mairenn, but if I didn't I'd certainly opt for Mary, her given name, over
