I like Anika, but am not crazy about Nico for a girl though.

I love Adlai for a boy, if my DH would even of considered it, that would have been DS's name. Again, I am not crazy about it for a girl. I just think of the senators, Adlai Stevenson Sr. and Jr.

I like Ivy by itself, rather than as a nn for Ivana, which just makes me think of Ivana and Ivanika Trump.

Geneva is a detetion center for troubled youth around here, so that's all I think of.

I like Beatrice, but not crazy about Betty, I think Bea is a sweet nn.

Simone is really pretty, I went to high school with someone who I just heard named his daughter Simone, and I instantly liked it. Her mn is Oak, because she was concieved under an oak tree, at least that's the story I got.

Winnifred is okay, Winnie is really cute, I could see this one working well for you

Not into Collete or Dorothy.

Eliza is definitely a fav of mine, its always been on our long list. Judging from the rest of your list though, I think you may want something less popular.

I ended up voting for Simone, although I prefer the full name over the nn Simi.
My second choice would be Eliza or Beatrice.

I like Beatrice (Betty), Dorothy and Eliza best. I'd also love Ivy on it's own, but Ivana is too "Trump" and "Humpalot" for me to use IRL. ;)

Anika is fine -- though seeing a lot of usage these days, in case you thought it unusual -- but I'd have to warm up to Niko. While I love it for Nicolas, it seems fairly masculine here. And Adlai IS completely masculine. I immediately think Adlai Stevenson (if you're unfamiliar, google it, but I'm certain many will have the same association

Ok, when I mentioned Adlai my husband laughed and walked away. I think I am realizing why that is so. LOL Definitely not looking to go with Addy. I have distain for that name due to a bad association. I like the names Adeline and Adele and thought Adlai was similar but I liked it's Hebrew association.

With Anika, I am not concerned with a name being popular. I worry more about trendy than popular. My husband really wants to name our child Nico/Neko/Niko should we have a girl. The compromise is I pick out a full name & we keep a Niko variant for a nn. My concern with this name is the Anakin character from Star Wars. That could get on my nerves quickly.

If the Trump association with Ivana is too much, I will stray from it. My daughter plays with a little girl named Ivana and I thought it sounded cute, but the Trump women association will end up ruining my image of an Ivana being cute.

Ooh, then you might also like Adah (AY-da), Adalia (masculine root of Adlai, actually, when said ad-a-LIE-a, but it can also be a-DAL-ya, as a variant of Dalia/Dahlia), Adara, Adina or Adva (ahd-VAH). All are Hebrew. ;)

Regarding Ivana, are you simply averse to using Ivy on its own? Just curious, because you'll find most do like this name. ;)

What is your dd's name, if you don't mind sharing? I'm sure that would certainly effect many's views on some of these. If, for example, she has a clearly ethnic name like Jelena or Mila, Anika or Ivana might seem more fitting choices. A less common Biblical name like Talitha? Perhaps one of the above. If, on the other hand, she has a more common name, a more common choice might work best. You get the idea.

My daughter is Isidora, but goes by Zuzu.

I liked Isidora and Ivana or Zuzu and Ivy.

I would love to find the right Hebrew name. Tzipporah is my favorite Hebrew name but my husband hates the "ora" sound. If you know of one that lends itself to any of the following NNs, please let me know; Posey, Poppy, Niko, or Ivy.

I saw that you are considering the name Tallulah. I love that name. It was in my top three vetoed by my husband, along with Penelope and Bronwyn.

(I lost my original reply to this post- ugh)

Short on time, but I had to tell you I LOVE Isidora, nn Zuzu! That will be a tough one to stand up to. We'll have to find you some great names for a sister to her. ;)

Speaking of which, Posie (prefer this spelling) is a traditional nn for Josephine/Josephina and Poppy could work for Philippa (not technically Hebrew, but Biblical ... not sure if you wanted specifically Hebrew). Ivah is Hebrew (was a district of Babylon), or you could use a fn/mn combo with I.V. initials ... though I'm not sure I'd use another I name myself. Isidora is so distinct, I'd probably be apt to branch out a bit. Ooh! Another thought!!! You could easily use Ivy as a nn for the HEBREW name Aviva! That would certainly stand up to Isidora nicely. I like it! ;)

I'll leave on that note. I'm very happy with it. LOL

Thanks for the compliment. We agonized over our daughter's full name the NN was chosen by my husband before I came around. Luckily we are adopting so we have more than nine months to deliberate over the issue. The only thing we've found to work with Isidora/Zuzu is Tallulah/Tuuli.

I love Josephine/Posey but my husband's grandmother is Josephine and I am superstitious about naming a child after a living person. I also love Josie although Posey is much more my style. Anyway, I have to be very careful about mentioning it because if I offer it as an option it could be a done deal. It is always in the back of my mind.

I also love the name Eula but it does not seem substantial enough on its own.

Well you already know Talulla is on my own list, and Tula and Lula are both traditional nns for it. ;) Having an Abigail, nn Aila, I wouldn't another -la nn myself, but I do quite like them, and they work better in your case -- with Zuzu --

Hey Kelli,
I keep seeing Eulalia going by and I keep wondering--how do you pronounce it? I'm more familiar with Eulalie (YOU-la-lee) and Eulalia looks pretty put sort of perplexes me.
Thanks!

Niko is a boy's name... just thought you'd like to know. Why not have the nickname be Nike for Nikki-- the accent is on the E.
