I voted other because while I don't hate it, I don't like it either. It's OK fits with the ln as fn trend. Unless it was a family name, I wouldn't use it because most people are going to think Marilyn Monroe when they see it.

Monroe is nmsaa. It seems very masculine to me, as it reminds me of James Monroe (the president). When we were in grade school we had this pictorial rebus to remind us of the order of the presidents, and Monroe was represented by a *man* who was *row*ing in a rowboat, and he had a big adams apple to remind us of President Adams. That's just what I think of, lol.
I also can't think of any good feminine nicknames for it, so I'm sort of at a loss. The most similar name it makes me think of is Truman--equally masculine and presidential, with a prominent "man" sound. I just don't personally see the appeal, sorry! No offense intended.
