I love Lena. A lot of the names on your list (Olivia and Isabelle mostly) are too popular for my tastses. Lena has the perfect uncommon, classy mix.

I agree. I love the name Lina, but I would spell it with an I. (Just cause that's the way I've seen it spelled)

I love Lena. I'd keep the spelling how it is.

Is Jaime pronounced Jay-Me (like Jamie) or the Spanish Hi-May? I never see it written Jaime in English.

I think Lena is pronounced "LAY-nuh." At least that's how I've heard this pronounced.

To the OP: I'm wondering the same as a PP...how are you pronouncing Jaime? I've only ever seen this name for boys. If you are pronouncing it "JAY-mee," I would spell it Jamie.

Hi guys

Thanks for responding. The way I mean Jaime is Jay-mee. Over here it's an acceptable spelling of the name. Jamie is sort of the boy's way of spelling it.

As for Lena, the way I intentioned to pronounce it is like 'Lenny' only with an 'ah' at the end and not a 'y'.

Thanks

Charlotte

Isn't Lena Horne lee-nuh, though?

I agree! In Canada, Jamie is the male spelling and Jaime, female. They're both pronounced the same though. I've only ever heard LAY-nah for Lena, but LEN-ah is pretty too. Good luck!

True! XD That only makes one lee-nuh out of the lay-nuhs for me, though. It's just one of those names with multiple pronunciations...probably a regional thing.

I live in Canada also and have only seen the spelling Jaime once on a girl. All other Jamie's, male and female, have used this spelling.

It might be...there's also a philanthropic couple here, Fred and Lena Meijer and her name is pr. lee-nuh. (They're Dutch by background, I believe.)
