Honestly, if you're going for Carolyn, you should just use Carolyn. I hate it when people try to divide names up into syllables. I actually know unfortunate children named Emma Leigh and Kimber Leigh. What's wrong with Emily and Kimberly?
That said, I prefer Caroline over any of the other options.
I voted none of the above but that's not because I dislike any of them - they're about equal to me.
Ah, this brings back memories. With DD#1, DH and I really liked the name Cara, but he wanted a longer form and suggested Caralyn. We both loved the spelling, and nothing could convince us to consider Carolyn instead. Caralyn looked so young and fresh, but Carolyn seemed old and stuffy. I know they sound exactly the same, but the appearance made a difference to us. So I do have a soft spot in my heart for Caralynn.
That being said, I've since reconsidered and would only use a standard spelling for a name. So in this case, Cara Lynn would have to get my vote. Another option would be Caroline or Carina, and she could still be Cara or Carrie for short.
We ended up using Megan instead (she just looked like a Megan), but I really do love Cara. It's a beautiful choice.

I love Kara Lynn as a double name. I've considered using it if we have another girl. I don't want to use Carolyn, because we have a Carolyn in our very extended family (I don't like to use the same names, because then I think it becomes confusing; "Now which Carolyn are you talking about?"), plus my mom's name is Carol. Though I know many will disagree, I think Kara Lynn is just different enough to fit (especially since we prounouce Carolyn like Caro-lun).
