Jessalyn just sounds made up to me, sorry. Why not name her Jessica, or just name her directly for your grandmother, and use Jessie?

I voted yes, because even though it is technically "made up" (as pointed out by the pp), it still sounds pretty and honors your grandmother.

Other ideas (other than Jessica) for incorporating Jessie:

Jessamine/Jessamin (form of Jasmine)

Jessamy

Jessa

Jessenia (the name book I have that I've found to line up well, meaning-wise, w/BTN says that this is Arabic for "flower," but Behind the Name says it's a Spanish variant of Yesenia and is Spanish)

Again, I do think Jessalyn sounds pretty and it's a very nice way to honor someone in her family history.
