I Aileen pronounced like Ilene or is it like isle-een?

I pronounce Aileen the same as Ilene and Eileen -- but I think it looks extra spunky spelled with an "A," and is surprisingly the most popular of the three at present.


AILEEN (#483; peaked in 1926 at #288)


Gender: Feminine

Usage: Scottish, Irish, English

Pronounced: ie-LEEN, ay-LEEN


Variant of EILEEN

It's the Gaelic version of Anne (or maybe even Anna/Anya), & said sort of like Anya, but more like 'On-ya'.
