Hi everyone,
My message here will be in English, as I believe it's the most common language!

welcome to the board, Brianne. We do tend to use English, but lots of threads contain a few words, even sentences in other languages; usually we just translate into English after the non-English phrase.
You have a darling dd.
Is there a specific reason that you're struggling to speak Italian, as I'm guessing your dh is fluent in it? You could do one parent-one language (known as OPOL). Although I do understand your struggle to a point; I'm the one learning a language other than English (German) and teaching it to my son. While I only manage a pidgin mixture of English and German, I speak as much German as I can manage to my son.
Yup, that it cool to watch them change from one language to another. My son loves to hear me switch from mostly German with him to English including my partner and him.
